American Girl Josefina Doll and Paperback Book for sale

American Girl Josefina Doll and Paperback Book for sale
After spending literally right through the day wanting to tame this doll's unruly hair for my daughter, I made the decision the time had come to create an evaluation for other prospective buyers. This doll comes with her hair braided, but can also be pictured within the catalog with her hair loose, along with the site recommends that you just buy the special American Girl hairbrush (we did purchase), which generally seems to support the concept that this doll's hair is usually disassembled and brushed.

In the hour of receiving the doll as being a gift, my daughter planned to take its hair down and brush it. Well, it looked like there was set with many kind of fixative -- doll hairspray, for a moment -- and my daughter could barely get the brush through it with each gentle attempt, MANY strands of hair would come out. We followed every one of the directions for detangling - misting with cool water and gently working the special brush with the hair -- but the moment one tangle was exercised, ten more would change it out. Each time my daughter enjoyed the doll, it will become a battle up against the tangles and also the hair just kept getting good and even more tangled and matted until my daughter shoved the doll towards the back of the closet and do not touches her.

Also, clearly the hair was meant to be left from the braid because the whites is longer compared to the other, the underneath strands tend to be shorter compared to the outer layer, and when her hair is allowed to part while hanging loose, you will see a big 'bald' spot for the crown. Horrible looking! Unfortunately, just changing the doll's clothes was enough to mess the smooth braid even BEFORE we took your hair down, so it's virtually impossible to learn using the doll and make it looking nice.

For the purpose these dolls cost, I expected an improved quality doll wig (we've got other dolls which have much more manageable hair.) The standard of the doll's hair is similar to that surrounding the tiny $20 American Girl counterfeits that one could get elsewhere (Target and ToysRUs had versions.) The clothes and accessories are incredibly nice well-made, so if you desire a collector doll to sit down over a shelf and don't touch, this doll is fine for the, but as a play doll? Terrible!
